Judicial Ratings Now Available

The Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA) has released its 2012 Judicial Elections Evaluation Committee Report which assesses the qualifications of each candidate running in a contested election as a Los Angeles Superior Court Judge.

Click here to view the report, which is available in English and Spanish rates each judicial candidate as either: "Exceptionally Well Qualified," "Well Qualified," "Qualified," or "Not Qualified."

On May 14th, California Governor Jerry Brown announced a revised state budget which impacts the State's judicial branch significantly. LACBA President Eric Webber commented on the Governor's plans to drastically cut funding for the courts.
Public Interest Lawyer Richard A. Rothschild to Receive the Shattuck-Price Outstanding Lawyer Award. Congratulations to Richard A. Rothschild who has been selected as the recipient of the Los Angeles County Bar Association's highest honor, the Shattuck-Price Award. State Bar of California MCLE Audit Alert The California State Bar has commenced a more aggressive approach to audit lawyer's MCLE compliance. In 2012, the goal is to audit 5%, which translates to 3,000-4,000 lawyers, and in 2013 10% or 7,000-8,000 lawyers. Letters requesting proof of compliance for 2012 will be mailed in June.
